Hi, I'm considering different e-commerce packages and I was wondering what you all consider to be the most important features when choosing e-commerce software? Any specific features that made you choose Bv?
Thanks!

Consider: 1)Consider the software and it's feature's. 2)Consider your host's familiarity with the software you choose. 3)Consider your host's ability to promote your site. 4)Consider BVC and all it's feature's and support. 5)Consider the great add-ons:IE Structured Solutions. MY Suggestion: Contact Resposio.com who can handle it all for you.. my opinion... |

Flexibility and diversity of support is important. We compared many other carts before coming back to BV and have been very happy with the choice. The best way for you to figure out which one you want is to try and demo each product. BV has indicated we are 18 months from a new release which means BV should continue to add features and stabilize and already good product. We sell promotional items which requires a ton of customizations and flexibility especially when dealing with promotional apparel. Although we haven't completely resolved ordering going forward we know we can add features as needed. Free free to check out our site, PromoManagers. If you use the cart all we ask is that you empty it before leaving so we can keep track of lost carts accurately.

Match your product line to the abilities of the software to show them properly, calculate discounts, user group (wholesale) discounts. make sure you can integrate with any other software you might need to use such as Quickbooks. I have the most choice-intensive website using BV5 that I know of. Have a look at a recessed medicine cabinet: http://www.missionfurnis...ne-Cabinet__MAS751R.aspxThere are only a few engines that I'd be comfortable with at this level of per-unit complexity, BVC5 is one of them. |

Mitch, gorgeous piece!
Just to tell you, you are missing the newproducts png on that page...top right recommended item. If I remember right it's just in the wrong folder on the stock theme. Site looks great.

Flexibility (or adaptability) and easy to use. Also see if you can find a support forum (like this one) where you can go for answers to your questions and to find a knowledgeable developer if you need something done.

I second Rudy's comments above.
No cart is "perfect" for all applications, but BVC5 wins the overall functionality / capabilty / quality / cost equation by my reckoning.
BV and Resposio are a great combination...a host that knows and understands the cart and has a proven track record of great support is probably the most important factor IMO.
We have 2 more sites coming on line this year and I won't be wasting any time looking at alternatives.

The way I see it, all carts are about 95% the same at the surface.
They all have products, They all have categories, They all allow you to put things in the cart and check out.
We host for many carts and quite honestly for us it's all about the foundation code and scalability.
Many of our clients do huge volume (over a million users/day and some over 1000 orders/day) for these clients 90% of the carts out there would crash long before 9:00AM everyday.
If the cart has a solid foundation, you can code in just about any feature you like. BV has a very comprehensive feature set and can be easily modified and scaled. |
