Hi,

I've recently wrote a .NET application that imports from a directory of images on the client's local machine and adds the image name to the appropriate product in the database fields small and medium images in the product table. When viewing the the actual database and the edit product screen the image name and path shows up correctly however both the small image and the medium image in both the admin and store still shows the "No Image Available" image. When I use the "Select" image button and use the UI to select the image, then the image shows up. When looking in the database there is no difference in the values when I use the admin to add an image or when I use the custom made import app for the client. I'm thinking there's a flag somewhere in the database letting the system know when to display the "No Image Available" image but I can't find it for the life of me. I've searched the database low and high and can't seem to find a resolution to this issue. The client has ton's of images that need to be uploaded and we can't do this manually using the admin. Please help?

I might be totally wrong, but the cache may not be loading until you use the BV5 UI.

Hmm, there must be some way to do this? It seem's like such a basic thing to do. To import a bunch of images based on sku. Anyone else care to chime in? BV tech people?

Michael,
There can be several things:
1. Your path IS wrong. I know you would not belive it but I would check it again. Your path should be something like "/images/products/..."
2. Your path is using "\" instead of "/"
3. You need to disable product caching (options/products), then reload the product by clickin on Edit from the Catalog and don't just refresh the page.
BV displays the "No Image Available" when I can't read the file from the disk.

Corneliu.

I'm having the same problem, I've uploaded thousands of images in mass and populated the appropriate field in the table. I was able to get the "No Image Available" to go away so the system recognizes the file, but it won't show the actual photo unless I load it using the admin. Instead, I get the little red "x" that displays when a picture can't be displayed.

However, I can't figure out why it's not displaying. It's categorized properly, it shows up in every other viewer, and once I load a given photo via the admin, it shows up fine. What do I need to do to get thousands of products to actually display properly without having to handle them one-by-one via the admin?

Actually, I just realized that if I save the files as GIFs, it works fine, but if they're JPGs the system doesn't recognize the file type for some reason. Is this a glitch or is there a reason that it defaults to JPGs?
