Display Product Variants on Category Grid View Page

Hi -
Is there a way to display the product variants (dropdown) with the option to add to cart on the category grid listing page?
For example, if I were to go to the Shampoo page, I would see all of the different shampoo products, and for each individual product I could see the product variant dropdown box where I could select the scent, and then click 'Add to Cart' right on that page as opposed to having to go directly to the individual product page. I'm assuming someone has done this before, but I cannot get it to work by adding the VariantsDisplay control to the category grid page.

Would love to have a feature like this as well... Anyone get something like this to work? Even if just displaying the variants with an image next to each one (color), and not having the add to cart ability.
