Thank you in advance for any thoughts on this project.

I need to setup an online store to sell memberships to a magazine. Products available in this store would include normal paper magazine memberships where orders would be fufilled by mailing the customer a magazine, but also online memberships where once a customer purchased an online membership they need to be able to sign in and can then download PDF versions of the magazine for the term of their subscription.

All I have come up with so far to handle this would require two instances of BV Commerce. The first would be a public site like any other store. When a cusotmer purchases an online membership, via workflow I would create a login and password to a second private site and would email the user that login and password information to their account on the private site. I would have to extend the private site functions a bit from base to support an expiration date for users, etc. I don't see any major issues there.

Can anyone think of a better way to do this? BV Folks, would this require two licenses? I guess I could extend the fucntionality of a single another ecommerce product to do this, the scenario above was dreamed up while half asleep.

Thanks -

Greg

I did something similar to link BV5 into my existing site. You can do this with one version of BV5. Create a shipping product and an online product. I created some custom code on the Order Confirmation page for the online product that adds a link to Login to another section on my site. I use a generated Expiration date (365 + order date) and the BVIN which are passed in a querystring to the Login page. The Login page only runs if it gets the correct Querystring information. That gets the person in. If needed you can provide them with some additional login information there so they don't have to come back to the store each time.
