Unfortunately, our site has gone through several different store applications over the years. Most of our product images are not working too well with BV5.

I have a graphics program that will batch re-size, but the batch re-sizer will not handle a re-size where you only set one parameter and re-size on aspect ratio.

My attempts to use the automatic re-sizing has not helped much. Automatic resizing would work well for us if we could set the width and let it re-size the height based on the original aspect ratio. Is there a trick that will make the re-sizer pull this off? Most of our images are the same width. but the height varies, so there is no way for us to use a fixed size.

Any tips would be appreciated!

Dean,
Try IrfanView (www.IrfanView.com). It's free and it can resize keeping the aspect ratio. Just tell it the prefered Height/Width (max values) and it will resize your images keeping the aspect ratio correct.

Thanks Corneliu!!

I would prefer to use the re-sizing tools build into BV5, because my small and large images are both stored in the same folder. Since every product detail has separate links to the small and large images, this would be the easiest fix.

To use a batch processor, I will need to go in and manually move the small and large images to separate locations so that I can batch process them. I can do this of course, but extra work.

BV5 has no built in resizing. All it does it tells the browser to display your large image smaller.
So if all you have are large images, all your customers download large images that look small and only become large once you click them.
As I specified on a different thread I'm writing a plugin that makes small and medium images out of the large images and also applies watermarks on your large images.
The advantage is that you only upload a large the the plugin will correctly rezize it down. I hope to release it in about two weeks if all goes right.

Corneliu.

Corneliu if you can find a way to incorporate the smarterview type features I think many of us would gladly pay for your plugin. As it is now smarterview tosses errors for most Mac users. Cliff could detail the specifics of the best way of handling the layout (I believe just in a DIV) which would leave the end user with flexibility. If ALT tags were also incorporated it would be a huge jump forward.

Actually, I thought real resizing was part of BV5.... seems as if I remember some pretty in depth posts about the subject in the BV4 forum some time back. So I assumed (yeah I know) that it was something neater than it is.

Thanks Mitch :)
Now, go back to work and stop dreaming!
BTW, did you try the Packages Plugin? I have it running on my site for several products(http://www.bestgames.com.au/Products/Killer-Bunnies-and-the-Quest-for-the-Magic-Carrot__PLE40100.aspx) and it has made a nice difference for me.

Corneliu, check your css on the page http://www.bestgames.com.au/Products/Killer-Bunnies-and-the-Quest-for-the-Magic-Carrot__PLE40100.aspx. Seems column three is being pushed to the bottom of the page using IE7. Might need one of Cliff's display:inline tricks.

IE6 also pushes to the bottom.

No, I have no products that can use packaging at the moment. As time goes on, I hope to pick up a few more artists' offerings though.

Cliff,
Please help :) What can I do with the CSS to fix that? I actually noticed that as well on my other site the other day but I was in a hurry and I forgot to check.
Thanks,
Cornliu.

Thanks: 1 times
Corneliu -

Try moving your homepagecolumn3 div outside of the bg1productpage div. That should do the trick.
