You have to turn on IIS6 meta base compatibility for the site manager to work in Vista/Windows 2008

Hi Marcus,
Where do you turn on IIS6 meta base compatibility for the site manager to work in Vista/Windows 2008? I am having the same issue.
Thanks,

Thanks Corneliu!
Marcus, could it be that my license file has expired or something. I have made all the changes as you have noted and I still can't create a site locally (using a remote SQL db) nor via FTP. If I don't have anything in the license field it says "license required error 5010" but when I select the license...nothing happens....the start butoon does not initiate a site creation for either scenario.
Thanks,
Derek |

Are you running the site manager as administartor? Try using Windows/Integrated authentication just to create the database then edit your web.config file to use a SQL username/password afterward.

Thanks Marcus, Yes, I am running the site manager as "administrator", plus I have user control turned off. I will give that a try....but could it be the license? I bought this over a year ago and am just installing it now...and the domain may be differemt than I had originally intended....
Thanks Derek |

Derek,
To be sure about the license, download a fresh copy from the online order details (visit the BV Software store, login, and open the order details). |

Thanks Andy, I did do that...so I guess that means it's not a license issue.
Thanks for your help!

Ok, this is driving me crazy! I have installed BVC5 on 5 different machines, 3 Vista and 2 XP Pro. All have IIS running, .Net 2.0 or higher installed, I installed the 3 SQL management objects shown on the Site Manager home screen under "Get SQL Management Objects" and have downloaded a fresh copy of the license from the online store.
All experience the same thing, I cannot create a site either via ftp or locally....once all data in enetered, the "start" button simply does not initiate anything.
Please help!!!

Derek,
I'm sure this is frustrating. Have you tried the manual installation process?

Thanks Marcus! I appreciate your response and I know you have better things to do than troubleshoot all these little issues.
I will try the manual installation.
Thanks, Derek |

UPDATE....all is well! I must apologize for not confirming this sooner. The issue turned out to be with my Host's SQL server db connection info that they gave me. There was an error in the login info and that is why is was not proceeding.....however no error message kicked up to give any indication that there was a connectivity issue.....regardless....thanks for eveyone's help.
