Hi guys,
I'm having a problem getting gift certificates to work on my site. I've got them assigned to their own category, some fixed value ones, and one variable value one (customer entered value). I can buy any of them, complete the order and the order receipt email is sent confirming the purchase of the gift certificate, but the gift certificate doesn't appear to actually be issued.
The 'Issue Gift Certificates' workflow is definitely there and the workflows before and after are being actioned, so I would assume the issue gift certificate one is being run, but no certificates are listed as issued through the admin area, and there's no record of an issued certificate.
I'm basically stumped. I've been through the manual and can't find any info, I've searched the forums, been through the admin area several times, about the only thing I haven't tried yet is stepping through the source code.
Can anyone shed any light on what I'm doing wrong? |

Also, another issue with gift certificates, how do you select a display template for a gift certificate, the option isn't there in the admin for gift certificates (at least not that I can see).

So by no replies after 3 days, would I be correct in assuming that no one has been able to either get gift certificates working or change the display template of the gift certificate pages?
In that case, what's the point of including them in the software package if they don't work? |

It's more likely that the people that saw your messages do not use gift certificates. I don't either, but if any error messages related to gift certificates are in the event log (BV Admin > Options > Event Log), perhaps I can help decipher them. I'm guessing you already found and followed the instructions here, http://www.bvsoftware.co...Gift%20Certificates.aspx |

Hi Andy,
I did try reading through the manual several times (what there is of it), but the gift certificate page is more of an overview of the 'Gift Certificates' page under the admin section rather than a helpful guide to the gift certificate issuing process.
I've had a look at the error log (cleared it out, started from scratch with the purchasing process), but didn't see any new entries.
I'm beginning to think I've missed an 'Issue Gift Certificates' checkbox, but can't think where it'd be that I haven't looked already.
Also, and sorry for sounding like a spoilt child, but the problem with not being able to issue a design template to gift certificates seems more like an oversight on behalf of the developers than something that would appear in the error log. |

It looks like you have done your homework. I would split your post in 2. Re-post your question about the template with a subject that mentions the template (some people only scan the subject). And submit a support ticket about the gift certificate not being issued. |

Gift Certficates in BV are a bit of a nightmare. They don't automatically send to the "gifted" person as one would expect. In fact, the best way to issue them is to create a dummy gift certificate item that the user purchases, then, once purchased, do a manual process of sending yourself a code and then emailing to the end recipient. We actually opted to only do in-store gift cards once we realized how this worked, but the set up is basically the same. You can look at my site www.kansassampler.com and see the gift certificate layout. If you give me your email I can walk you through the rest of the process. Marcy

Cheers Andy, I've posted a bug report, and a new gift certificates template post, hopefully someone'll be able to shed some light on it :)
Marcy, I'm a little confused about your solution, but I think that's because I'm looking at it from the point of a purely online store. I take it you've created gift certificates as just another product, which you then ship out to customers (hence the additional shipping added to the price). So do you take gift certificates on your website or only instore? |
