Hey Guys,

My name is Robbie and I work for FireFold.com. Currently we are on BV5 SP2 - running okay. We have been missing features such as Google Check Out, Froogle Feeds, etc. since the start.

I was wondering how stable SP3 is currently? Is a live store able to move to it without any negatives? FireFold is a large live store and cannot take the risk of bugs without first checking.

Upgrade away. 3.2 is stable, but set up a development site and test before re-launch. You might want to wait for SP4 due any week now.

Today we did the upgrade. It installed but now our store is down. The specific error is related to a field "not found in table Table". Other than the forum, I'm not sure where to turn on an issue like this. (I noted in the preceding message that SP4 will be due "any week now", with the message dated May 13, so we decided to go ahead with SP3.2.) Any suggestions on where to turn for support, let me know.

Are you aware if your SQL database was modified by the upgrade patch?

Have you purchased support and filled out a ticket?

the problem was that not all files got updated during the patch process. Needless to say, the SP update process needs to be done by a technical person. This is not a product that can be used by the non-technical person.

O2G,

We have thousands of "non-technical" customers who use and install service packs on our software every single day. If you are having difficulty we offer 30 days of support included and the up-to-date plan for extended support.

Our patch utility is designed to roll back any failed patches if you use the utility. Did you manually install the service pack upgrade?

Thanks - no, we did a manual install out of ignorance of any other method. Maybe somebody can send me a best practices guide or such on doing the patches and rolling them back. Obviously we're doing it wrong in the absence of that info.

Are you on your own server or on a hosted server? The upgrade process is generally designed to run on your own server, or on your development machine and then upload the new files. Unfortunately for many people who are on hosted accounts and don't run a development box, this won't work. I've asked on several occasions for manual install instructions to be included in the Readme.txt files. At least as of SP3.2 (where my site is now) it hasn't been included by BV staff.

This was my earlier post on this which might be helpful. Marcus or Justin should respond to clarify the process
