zero dollar orders is left unchecked. Item has no pricing, but shipping is added due to rates being calculated based on weight. order was received this morning.
My interpretation of not allowing $0.00 orders means this order should not have been processed. Might not be a bug but I really think it should be considered for a little upgrade.
A thought is that any item without pricing should have the add to cart function disabled? |

I have a few items that require a quote so a quote can be ordered at $0.00. I don't have the box checked "Allow 0 dollar orders". I never even thought about it, it just worked. But... I'd now assume that the box - should - have to be checked in order for the 0.00 order to go through. It seems to work either way.
With the box unchecked, the normal payment options are in place. With the box checked though, the payment options on the payment page are replaced by a checked "No Payment Needed" in place of the payment options. |

that's a good wrench to throw into it mitch....LOL...
Honestly, the easiest thing here is to make it up to us to not activate $0.00 products if we do not want the item purchased. The drawback from that boils down to annoyance and leads into a different topic. Is there a way in BV5 at the moment to easily view all products that are (1) deactivated or (2) priced at $0.00.
The workaround that I did for my client was export the products to a tab delimited file, sent to excel & deleted unnecessary columns. client was able to sort through everything and get it all fixed up. However, the export did not include deactivated products.
So I guess this turns into a feature request/suggestions thread
1. Ability to view all products at $0.00 (unless I'm missing it somewhere!)
2. Ability to view all deactivated products (again, am I missing it?)
3. Checkbox on Import/Export tool to include deactivated products. checked = yes, unchecked = no
For Mitch's scenario, is the Text Override feature (Text = Call For Quote) the best solution?
I think I'm rambling and thinking too much outloud :)
EDITED*************
Yes, viewing deactivated products is OOTB. Catalog > Any Status drop down box. |

Hi Matt, You may want to consider adding a workflow task to your checkout started workflow to check for a $0.00 total shopping cart. Have it return an error if it finds the cart total to be $0.00. ____________________________________________________________ Netriplex Corporation Custom Bvc5 Development - "Helping to Build Your Store, Your Way" Check out our "Tax in Product Pricing" module http://bvc5demo.netriplexboston.com |

Matt, I went the "Call for quote" route until I had to play 20 questions once to often. Allowing someone to order a custom product (for $0.00) with all of the choices on the screen while gathering customers' info makes it a snap to make a quote and then follow-up.
My RFQs have easily doubled doing it this new way. |

Kitting is right up your alley. Have this in the plans for the client that just experienced a couple zero dollar orders... LOL..
In their case, it's for commercial machines which can be accessorized with different motors, attachments, etc.. |
