Hi - New to the forums and evaluating the BV Commerce cart.
We operate a gourmet foods site where our customers often send our items as gifts. Our current cart has the capability for the customer to enter a gift message at check out. The gift message then prints to the packing slip. Does the BV Commerce cart provide a similar feature?
Also, a related question . . . we often receive calls or emails during our busy holiday season from customers that have forgotten to add their gift message. Their expectation is that we can do this for them. We can't modify this section of the order, so we end up handwriting the message to the packing slip or a gift card. Does BV Commerce have a way for either the admin or the customer to enter or modify a gift message once the order has been placed?

There is the Special Instructions box that might be able to be modified to use as a "Gift Message" You could then apply this field to print on the packing slip. |

There is an "Instructions" field where the customer can type in additional text that prints out on the receipt. This could be used as a gift message field. Your other option would be to include a text box option on each product and let the customer enter one gift message for each product. Or, create a free "Gift Card" product that has a text field and let customers add a free gift card item to their order.

Thanks, guys. I assume the Special Instructions field name can be modified to reflect its revised function as a Gift Message box, then?
Is the Special Instructions field editable after the order is placed? (see second half of my original post)
Also, off topic, but forum Reply Notifications are disabled. Is there a way for me to enable or how do I know that someone has replied to my post other than checking back frequently?

I was calling it "Special Instructions" -- Marcus is referring to the same thing -- and yes, you can edit/change/delete that information in the back end after an order is placed. |
