Just wondering as we're bordering on 4 months I think since it was supposedly ready for release. Is there another beta or RC coming? PromoManagers promotional items

In the other forum folder, last week Marcus replied something like "it will be ready when it's ready." His response seemed a little touchy to me, so I'm guessing their progress is going slow. Don't hold your breath; I gave up on it 3 months ago!

Last I knew they identified some new issues in the beta edition which required fixing and testing in a new beta. Marcus took a lot of heat for releasing an update that was not fully functional so he is a little more cautious with this release. I don't blame him.
You can have it fast, you can have it right, but you can't have both. Thats the way it is with everything.

I can understand, and have no issues with being more cautious. But I felt that his response to my post in the other forum was both childish and petulant. Why not just say sorry, but we don't have a release date yet for xyz reason.
As a paying customer, I now feel incredibly disillusioned.

Jason,
I'm sorry if my previous response sounded short. We've had several personnel changes here as well as PCI compliance switching to PA-DSS. We're balancing service pack 5.4 with work that we're doing on 5.5 for PA-DSS compliance and custom programming work. On top of that the feedback from the first beta of 5.4 was that it isn't ready to release yet.
I've taken a lot of heat in the past for being too optimistic on release dates. Going forward I would rather not specify release schedules until I know for sure that a given product is ready to go. We're still working on service pack 5.4 and will be putting out a beta 2 version for testing before final release. I don't have a release date for beta 2 of 5.4 yet.

At least you get a response here -- if you haven't tried other Ecommerce platforms, then you probably aren't aware how lucky you are that you got one -- competitors to BV that put out a NET2 platform don't care about you unless you are paying them five figures for custom development. |

Hello,
Well, thanks Marcus for getting back to us. I have to admit that I was put off by your previous comments and really just did not know what the proper response should have been. I really felt that any further conversation on the subject was and is futile to the point I have been playing around with other asp.net ecommerce apps. As a solutions provider I have an obligation to meet my clients expectations. When I recommended BVC5 to my client I assumed that all the CURRENT features that were in BV2004 would naturally find there way into BVC5. I made a huge error in assuming this. After purchase was made, we realized that some features that were in the previous version were either excluded or depreciated. It is what it is.
I have been extremely satisfied with BV Software and its flexibility. I hope that we can get the growing pains behind us and continue to deliver a high quality product to our customers.
Thanks,
TJ Havens
