Can more than one website share the same database?

My site sells lots of different categories of items. I would like to build other websites off the same dataset but more specific. The new sites would use the same data but just a subset of it. I want to be able to still do just one upload a night since the main system sells the same items as well. Can this be done in BV5? What do I need to purchase to accomplish it? Thanks! Each store needs its own database. There are several settings stored in the database that are store specific.

Could it be cloned for each additional site or do I have to start from scratch for each one? It is pretty customized.

You could copy an existing database and then adjust the settings so yes, you could clone the store but it would require a new valid license file for each store.
