Does anyone know how to charge a credit card a second time after the order has been placed. I frequently have a customer contact me after the order is placed to add a feature or another item. When I try to charge card for the additional amount via the Order > Payments section, the system claims that a duplicate ID is being associated with the charge and so it won't accept it. Is there a way to change this ID? Same thing happens if I change the order number.

Thanks,

Tom

I go to the admin of my processor's site directly.

Pessimists buy parachutes.

Greg,

Some payment processors don't accept the same order number twice. Try adding an "a" or "b" or some other suffix to the order number on the payment screen before processing the card for the second time.

For example, Order 123 would become 123a just for the second payment submission. The actual order number remains the same but the "a" allows your credit card processor to accept it as unique.

I use PayPal Payment Pro as my credit card processor. I have tried the suffix "a" on the order number but that did not work. It would still say that the ID was the same. I assumed it was getting this ID number from some other aspect of the order. Maybe it's something I can't modify. The other thing I will do is go directly to PayPal's virtual terminal to process the payment, but then I have to login and add all the customer's info again - not efficient.

So is there really no way to add a second credit card charge for an order? No way to somehow change the ID on the fly?
