I've had it with outlook. I just need a no frills, no 100 desks linked together through a calendar capability, no frills email program.

Anyone using something that you're happy with? 'cept Google?

It looks pretty cool. Been using Outlook Express since the beginning, Windows Mail is literally the same app. You mentioned "no frills" and I think that the two I mentioned are as close to no frills as it can get.

Add-ons for thunderbird look pretty neat, but that kind of makes it a Frill app though now...LOL...

message tagging is a plus.

I'd recommend Windows Live Mail. It looks very similar to Outlook or Windows Mail but it behaves a whole lot better for IMAP and other "disconnected" scenarios. You can download it for free.

I've tried Outlook (almost every version) and it's a bloated pig unless you're using Exchange server and pulling everything dynamically.

I've tried Thunderbird and found it to be temperamental, buggy and slow for IMAP.

I've tried Windows Mail on Vista and it's the worst of both Outlook and Thunderbird.

So far, Windows Live Mail seems to run along much more smoothly and I don't loose control over the interface while things are loading. I think someone got the multithreading correct in this app.

I have been using Outlook for years. I got frustrated with Outlook 2007 but Outlook 2003 is pretty good and reliable. I cant use Windows Live Mail because it does not install on Server OS. I am on W2k3 SP2.
Thanks,
