We're trying to implement Google Checkout for our 5.3.2 shop, but I'm confused about the shipping.
We've set up a UPS shipping method that is grabbing rates based on the store location and the customer location. However, it looks like google checkout has its own shipping settings that work completely independent of the bvcommerce settings.
Am I missing something? Is there a way to make Google Checkout use your existing shipping options / rates?
Also, is there a way to use google checkout as an option on the checkout page instead of a button on the cart page?

You hit two big issues I had with GC -- first, they have a "3-second rule" -- unless that's changed, on top of getting their own shipping rates. So if you have better (or higher) rates with UPS, doesn't matter, Google will use their own. Also, if you offer choices for shipping, GC looks for rates from all shippes (UPS, FedEx, USPS, etc.) and if it takes more than 3 seconds, it will stop and use your backup rates, which may or may nto be what the customer got estimates for. Very bad implementation. Google checkout is not set up for folks who use carrier based rates.
Secondly, they want their checkout path to bypass your checkout page, like PayPal, so that everthing the customer does is on their turf, but unlike PayPal, they have no checkout option on your checkout page, so you're stuck with the cart page. |

Thanks Joe, it looks like this will unfortunately not fit our needs.
Regarding the 3 second rule, we have been unable to see any carrier rates in google checkout, so maybe all of the api calls were just timing out.
