I was wondering if there was a way to change the shipping method on a product by product basis. I have about half the products that will ship normally via FedEx rate query(weight and dimension calculations) The other products have a flat rate on a product by product basis to anywhere.
Before I delve into the source, I was hoping someone had figured out a work-around. I could make an offer (Shipping) and apply it only to certain products with no expiration, but the shipping is only incremented or decremented by a percentage or an amount.

This should probably go on the wishlist forum. Another thing that is sorely needed is a way to have a single product with multiple shipping packages (say, a product, sold as a lot, that has 20 boxes of tiles, for example). Some products may have 20, 50lbs boxes - this would cause FedEx, UPS, etc to assume it was one giant box weighing 1000lbs and it would generate an error.

You should check out the Shipping Provider Suite from Structured Solutions (see link below). Andy Miller on the forum created this add-on, and it is pretty awesome. Download the try version and play with it. You can create some pretty amazing rules to handle just about any shipping scenario. I'm 100% sure that you can achieve what you're describing with the Shipping Provider Suite, but I think you can. For example, you use the product type or a type property as a flag to get rates from different carries. http://structured-solutions.net/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=RULEPROV-BV5 |

"one giant box weighing 1000lbs and it would generate an error."
...and a hernia!
Multiple box products has been discussed and wish-listed. For instance, shipping a lampshade and base (1 order) in 2 boxes needs to be done manually. Drop shipping the shade from one manufacturer and the base from another manufacturer..... ooops, different problem...
Shipping in general is one of the most discussed topics here. Until we can afford the talent that Amazon's got..... |

I'm changing the code to do just this, just thought I'd check first before jumping in.
