Hello,

We recently applied a series of Windows updates to the server running BV Commerce 5 SP2.

After submitting the payment information (either as a user or via the admin console), the browser hangs and the charge does not complete.

We are using the LinkPoint API.

Updates were applied about 7:45 PM eastern. The last successfully charged order was 7:15 PM. The next order at 8:45 PM failed to charge. The only difference between 7:15 and 8:45 were the Windows updates.

I can list out all of the updates applied, but the two that seem most relevant are

Microsoft.Net Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .Net Framework 3.5 Family Update (KB951847) x86
Security Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 6.0 Service Pack 2 (KB954459)

I have turned on payment debugging. No information is logged to the database.

I have attached a Windows System event entry that appears to be the issue. It relates to an "AccessViolationException" that occurs in the nsoftware.IBizPay DLL.

Uninstalling the Windows update is not possible as it would impact other sites on the server.

All of the DLLs in the bin directory for the site are dated 2008-07-16 5:13 PM, except for nsoftware.IBizPayWeb.dll, which has a timestamp of 2008-07-16 5:14 PM.

BVSoftware.Bvc5.Core.dll is version 5.0.0.947
nsoftware.IBizPayWeb.dll is version 3.1.2561.0

Thank you.

1138? Do you mean 1129 for LinkPoint? Yes that is open. I am able to establish a telnet connection to port 1129 of secure.linkpt.net.

As I said in my previous post, it worked at 7:15 PM but not at 8:45 PM or afterward.

I manage the hosting environment that we're in. We get a 100 Mbit drop from the data center. That's it. We are in control of everything else.

During that 1.5 hour period of time, the *only* change made was the application Windows updates.

I did make one error in my original post. The file times of the DLLs are not accurate because I forgot that they were transferred to us via FTP, not inside of an archive. So, those times reflect the date they files were uploaded, not the original times. The version numbers (from Properties | Version) are accurate.

Thank you.

Eric,

I don't recognize the Core version number. There is a much newer version of IBizPayWeb included with BVC5 Service Pack 4. You might try replacing yours temporarily with the newer one as a test.

Eric,

Yes, I meant port 1129. The number 1138 is stuck in my head from too many star wars references.

The iBiz payment integrator in 5.4 should be version 3.3.2837.0

I have sent a message to support requesting the login details to download the patches.

I can confirm that application of this patch:

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update (KB951847) x86

breaks the LinkPoint API payment processing with an AccessViolationException in IBizPay.

I had a virtual machine configured with .Net 2.0 SP1. Processing a credit worked fine. (It declined because the credit card number was 5400-0000-0000-0005, which passes the MOD-10 check, but is not a valid account number.)

After applying the above update, the AccessViolationException occurs rather than the expected decline.

We don't even have the .net 3.5 update installed, and we are having problems charging with linkpoint.

See this post....

That looks like a different problem, unless they're just handling the error differently.

I'm actually seeing the IBizPay DLL crash with an access exception. You can see if this is the case by looking at the Windows event log. It also showed up in the BV Commerce log table in the database.

Your support system makes it impossible to request help.

I am trying, on behalf of my client, to get access to the latest patch for BV Commerce, to see if it corrects the problem above.

I sent a message to support on 7-Feb-2009, which included the serial number. I received no response. I tried again today, and got the automated response pointing me to the ticket system. The ticket system is useless to me.

We inherited this solution. The client does not know who ordered it.

The store is at http://www.robertrothschild.com/ if you need proof that it is a legitimate copy.

I will post the serial number here if required, but I suspect that you would prefer that I don't.

Thank you.

You can download software and patches at any time 24 hours a day from http://www.bvsoftware.co...re/MyAccount_Orders.aspx

Just login with your username and password and the download links are on each order details page.

As I stated earlier, this is an inherited solution. I do not have this info. The client (http://www.robertrothschild.com/) does not have this info. Their previous vendor is gone. They do not know who ordered it.

I tried sending a message to support, but that was ignored.

I tried using your "support" system, but that fails because I don't have the account info.

I would absolutely love to login and download the patches, but you have set the system up in such a way that I have no way to get the required login info. You are asking for information that my client (the one using your product) does not have.

What can I do to get this info? The email I sent to support on 7-Feb-2009 include the license number, a screen shot from the license info screen, and a contact email address for my client, who's actually the one using your software.

Please help. I have exhausted every method to get the information I need.

Eric,

Who was the original developer. If the license was purchased in the developers name I have to get their permission to transfer it to the client. Legally, the developer bought the software and I can't just give their license to the client without their permission.

Eric, I have a client with a BV5 license and due to circumstances is unfortunately no longer in need of it. The store was never activated.

I feel gross doing this but I'm trying to help them recoup some serious losses and my client is willing to transfer ownership of a license for a rate that we can discuss outside of the public forum.

The license was bought at the original price of $1499. There is no expectation of profiting off of this and a deeply discounted price is available.

Please contact me if you're in need of a license, matt @ 9balldesign.com

If BV see's any longterm problems with this, we will absolutely abide by their wishes.

@Marcus: I'm attempting to find out that information. I have the license number, if that helps. I did email that over as a screen shot on 7-Feb-2009 @ 4:35 PM Eastern.

@Matt: Maybe.
