I can not figure this out because it makes absolutely no sense. This is hit or miss. We charge a $5 handeling fee for ALL of our orders. However, over the weekend, for some reason authorize.net wont authorize the $5 on select orders. It's so random on only on the weekends. Some orders authorize the $5, while others do not.
Any ideas?

Any handling fees are grouped with shipping tax and item total and passed as one amount to authorize.net. Authorize.net should have no knowledge of whether an order has a handling fee or not.
When you say that some orders won't "authorize" the handling fee can you tell me exactly which screen you're on and what message you're seeing?

in the admin on the payment screen. the order will authorize for the total minus $5... which is why we assume it has to do with the handling fee.

Do you have any "Free Shipping" offers? For example, if you had a 100% discount on shipping/handling that could account for the fee not applying.

no i dont have any free shipping offers. It only happens on the weekends and on random orders. There is no logic to it.

Do you have different staff working on weekends to accept orders or is this all automatic over the web? What else would be different about weekends?

Just had 4 more yesterday and today. The handling fee is not getting authorized. Its becoming a huge hassle for my customer service to have to call the credit card comapnies and authorize.net to get it added.
Here is straight from an order today in the admin:
SubTotal: $73.95
Admin Discounts: $0.00
Tax: $0.00
Shipping: $15.28
Handling: $5.00
Total: $94.23
Payment Information:
Authorized: $89.23
Charged: $0.00
Refunded: $0.00
Amount Due: $94.23

Marcus, Just a thought.... A few years ago if a handling charge was added to the site , every fulfilled order showed an uncollected amount equal to the newly added handling charge. If this was fixed, (I haven't checked) could the fix that was applied be the problem here? |

im still having this problem in SP3. If i change my handling fee, all my previous orders change the handling fee as well. It should only change future orders. I need a fix for this ASAP.
