Buy a product get a free product with a Promo Code

I am hoping someone can help.
I am looking to take a dozen products and say if you buy one of these you get product xx for free using 1 promo code.
The problem with buy one get one is that you can't list multiple products with the same code and get one for free.
You have to buy all of the listed products to get one free. I just want one of the list.
Does anyone know how to deal with this issue? Is there some kind of combination of sales or offers I can use.
One other problem that comes up is that if the customer buys more than my volume discount the free item doesn't show up.
Is there anyway to do this?

Not OOTB. I had aram from avecom do exactly this for my site. It was a pain listing 50 products that all get the same 1 item for free. Aram took care of it.

Ok here is what I learned.
Multiple offers for different products with same promo code works ok. (Still have bogo bug).
I also solved the volume discount by changing the order on the work flow to calculate the stacked discounts first.
I still have a bogo issue if I increase the qty of the buy item when my coupon is on.
If I click update twice it works. It gives the final result correct but shows the wrong on the screen with the wrong subtotal.
