I've notice a lot lately, companies asking for my email address. If i give it to them, a few hours after hanging up the phone i get a email. I thought, pretty cool if its done properly.
We were thinking of giving the customer a $5 off coupon code if they give us their email address over the phone. Im trying to figure out the best way to handle this email as a template. I have outlook 2007, and you cant edit html. I want to have a nice template. Anyone have any ideas with the best way to set up an email template and send it to these customers?
I currently use contant contact for mailing lists. I think it would be very tedious to have to set up a new contact list every day so i dont think thats a solution...

Setup a static html file on the web. store it in something like /Emails/phone-call.html Build your webpage with some graphics, links and coupon code instructions. Make sure all links and urls are absolute/full (i.e. not relative). Not really necessary but better to be cautious. IE7 > open up the page you created ( http://www...../Emails/phone-call.html). Click "Page" > "Send Page By E-Mail" We do this with another client and it's an inexpensive workaround. We have a laundry list of static templates built based on the nature of the phone call(s). We title them accordingly and have a nicely organized bookmark folder for the reps. |

just curious... any way to get the "Emailing: " out of the subject without editing it in the email? Not a big deal.

not that I'm aware of. I just looked at the tools settings on IE7 and windows mail and I'm not seeing anything at first glance. |

Bryan,
If you're not providing a newsletter signup link on your website for Constant Contact, you could use your welcome email as the coupon email. Just sign the person up for Constant Contact and they will automatically be sent the welcome email with your coupon. Another, more sophisticated possibility is to use Constant Contact's autoresponder feature. It would work in much the same way as the welcome email, but it would be a separate email and would allow you to setup a chain of emails that are sent over time (e.g. first email goes out 2 hours after your phone call, second email goes out after 1 week, etc). |

Hmm I will have to take a look at that feature. I never even knew there was a welcome email in constant contact. That would work great for enticing customer's to sign up for our mailing list (we do use a link). I'll also have to look at the autoresponder feature to see how that would work with phone emails... Technically though, if i wanted to have the same coupone code used for "new email signups" as "after phone calls" i can use the welcome email as a the coupone code though right???

Yes! One technical detail to keep in mind is that if you signup a customer from the Constant Contact admin (or import a list) they will not be sent a welcome email. The welcome email is only sent when a signup occurs using the signup form. We've also built custom integrations where we sign them up through your website (rather than going to Constant Contact) as well as integrating it into the checkout process (e.g. check this box to be added to our mailing list). |

Yeah, exactly. I don't see Marcus going down that road. That's what developers are for. :) To see an example we have in place, take a look at www.roommatespeelandstick.com, add something to your cart and hit the checkout page. We also have a dedicated page on the site for signups where we also collect some marketing data: www.roommatespeelandstick.com/newsletter.aspx |

yeah i have a checkbox at checkout, a checkbox on the admin checkout, and i can use content block like from my front page. They all integrate right to constant contact.
Its going to work great for email marketing after phone calls. As long as I give all my customer's a coupon code when they sign up, i can do what Aaron suggested and use my welcome email as a coupon code. My customer service can just go on the front page and type in the email. Thats it!
PLUS, puttung the coupon code in the welcome email will be great for getting customer's to sign up, and if they click it at checkout, return to our website to use the coupon.
