We have a client who has 3 domain names he uses to promote his e-store and we set this up as domain aliases all going to the same folder. When a user clicks to checkout and moves to SSL - we move them to the master domain that the ssl is registered under. We used aspdotnotstorefront and had to write a hack for this. Does BV come with this type of feature?

You can specify a standard and secure root for your store. However, you will run into an issue when going from the non-main standard roots to the secure root. There is a regex function that does a match on the standard domain to replace it with the secure domain. You will need to update/override this one function to get multiple standard domains to work.
The other option is to 301 redirect all of the non-main standard domains to a single main standard domain first. This doesn't require any customization to BV.
