Is anyone running on 2008? Pros/cons and how difficult was the migration?

Thanks

Yes, BV Commerce runs on Windows 2008. We have several large stores running on it now. BV Commerce 5.4 and later include a web.ii7.config file which can be used to replace the normal web.config file. This allows you to run BV Commerce 5 in native IIS7 mode instead of legacy ASP.NET mode.

Marcus would you recommend the move? Does it significantly increase performance?

I'm not sure it significantly improves performance but I like IIS7 and I think the management tools are better and I think the new memory model is more efficient.

I know we should upgrade, but I am in the middle of a migration for a real small site that is using the BVC2004 Lite version (free) for a few products. It doesn't appear to run properly on IIS7/Windows server 2008. I made sure the application pool is set for classic .net 2.0. It works occasionally, but I keep getting this error multiple times in the event viewer:
<SPAN lang=EN>
Exception: System.NullReferenceException

Message: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

StackTrace: at BVSoftware.BVC.Core.WebAppSettings.get_ConnectionString()

at System.Threading._ThreadPoolWaitCallback.PerformWaitCallbackInternal(_ThreadPoolWaitCallback tpWaitCallBack)

at System.Threading._ThreadPoolWaitCallback.PerformWaitCallback(Object state)

I verified the connection string is fine in web.config and like I said, it does work just fine occasionally, 1 in 3 times will fail though. I transferred the files as-is from the working host (iis 6)

Thanks

BV2004 is a .Net 1.1 Application. You will have to jump through some hoops if you are running it on Win2008.
