After upgrading to V5.5 the real time shipping rates for UPS and USPS are not correct.
e.g. A 21lb package that on the UPS website going Ground is $20.26 and on our store is showing $15.32. The same package 3 day select on the UPS website is $38.90 and on our store $31.25
Help!!

What service pack did you have before? We didn't change any shipping code since SP3.
Are you basing your shipping rates on weight or weight + dimensions?

We had SP5.4 .
We have always based our shipping on weight only.
Because do ship a lot and we get special rates from UPS but not that special.
Using the UPS estimated shipping calculator at their site shouldn't those results be exactly what we "pull" from their servers for our shipping prices? They may add a fuel surcharge after the fact?

Not necessarily. The UPS calculator assumes a single package where you can specify exact weight and dimensions. Depending on how many items were ordered and if you have "ship separately", "Pick up Type" and other settings configured the rates may not match exactly.
You can turn on debug mode for UPS and then you'll see in the event log exactly what weight, dimensions, and packages are being sent to UPS for rates.

I turned on Diagnostic mode in Shipping/UPS and then looked in the Site logs. Is there another place that the Event Logs for UPS diagnostics are stored?

You should see some XML in one of the event logs after you get a shipping rate. The XML will have the package information for rate requests.

Where do I find the event log you refer to?
The only event logs I can find on our shared server is in path at the same level as wwwroot in folder logs.

Thank you for the path Andy.
But there is no folder Options in BV Admin or anywhere else.
Do event logs need to be turned on somewhere. I have the Diagnostic mode checked in Shipping UPS.
As I noted above the only place I can see a log file is in this structure
logs -W3SVC7374 -ex090424.log -ex090425.log -ex090426.log wwwroot -App_Browsers -App_Code -App_Themes -aspnet_client etc

I should have been more clear. "BV Admin > Options > Event Log" is not shorthand for hard disk folders, but for menu choices. In long hand:
- Load the BV Admin default page in your browser, sign in to the front-end of your web site and then click on the "Go To Admin" link.
- Click on the Options tab.
- Click on the Event Log menu link.
Since you have turned on Diagnostics Mode in the UPS shipping provider, the Event log will include the request and response XML. |

Thanks Andy
Shows how often I look at that part of the Admin.
Of course there are all the logs. I'll look the specific one for UPS and make notes of my findings. May be a few days as I am across country for the week at a show.

I am also facing the same problem. I am using BV Commerce 5.4 rev 5.
Any suggestions on how do I handle this problem?
Please help.

Under your Shipping -> UPS shipping methods do you have the box check to "Force Residential Rates"?? That will make a slight difference. |
