Just wanted to get opinions -- I have someone on my site that is running up a huge cart -- we are talking multiple items, multiple quantities of those items, over $15,000 worth at last count -- more than I could fill if I had 3 months and exhausted my distributors. I've tried to call him into chat several times, but he hits "Do Not Disturb" - I'm having my host put a block on the IP address, but he may be able go get in later and do the same thing from another IP -- I'm just wondering what the implications of such a cart could have on not only the site but the database -- I'm actually surprised he's still able to add items to the cart as normally it times out when you have that many -- I know he wont' get a shipping quote! |

I'm by no means an expert with BV Commerce 5... but from a practical experience, unless he's putting in thousands of unique items into the cart I doubt you'll have any problems. The only thing that might be an issue is if you're tracking inventory and reserve the items as they're added to the cart.
I've had several orders with 35+ individual products and the site hasn't skipped a beat.

Thanks -- I don't reserve inventory until the sale is final. But with the BV/FedEx bug on package size, it does slow things down when you have a lot of items in your cart. |
