Marcus -- I appreciate the notice on the upcoming conference on BV6 and the release. Much appreciated and looking forward to it. Can you clarify this line in the email:

"This is the best opportunity to get a free upgrade to BV Commerce 6 at the lowest price possible"

I'm not sure how to interpret -- "free upgrade" -- and "lowest price possible" -- thanks

Joe,

Those customers who have an active maintenance plan will receive any and all upgrades to BV Commerce for free while their maintenance plan is active. I honestly do not know if BV Commerce 6 will be ready before most people's maintenance plan comes up for renewal but I would certainly like to see it released before then. It would be an excellent way to show my appreciation to all of the customers who have maintenance plans.

The line in the email is targeted at BV Commerce 5 customers who do NOT have an active maintenance plan. Currently, they need to pay $499 + $500 for not joining the plan on time like you did. After February 22nd, they will need to pay more to join the maintenance plan.

It's only fair that customers who have not been paying all along are charged more to "catch up" to everyone else. It would not be fair for someone to wait until the day before BV Commerce 6 is released and be able to join in at the same price as someone who started a year ago.

What is the email that Joe is referencing? Shouldn't all maintenance customers be receiving information regarding BV 6??

Can anyone else chime in on this email that Joe received regarding the BV6 release? I am wondering if we've been left off a distro list as we did not receive it. Did you all receive it, and can you pass on the particulars of what it said??

Thanks

It was an invitation to participate in the BV6 preview online conference.

I'd send a note to BV and ask them to add your address to the mailing list. Or login to your account, and sign up for the newsletters.

Hi Matt - I sent them an email several days ago. Received no response. I don't see a newsletter sign up when I log into my account (see attached). If you can help me with where that is located, I'd appreciate it!

Thanks: 1 times
I'm really hoping that BV6 is out before the majority of maintenance plans expire, as I think most people probably have a similar date of early - mid May that we do. Here's a copy of the preview email in case others missed it:

BV Commerce 6 Preview and Pricing

February 8, 2010

This Thursday, February 11, 2010 at 3pm eastern time I will be showing a preview of BV Commerce 6 and on February 23rd, 2010 there will be a price change for BV Commerce.

BV Commerce 6 Preview

This Thursday I will be showing a preview of BV Commerce 6. The preview will be a GoToMeeting conference where participants will be able to ask questions and make suggestions on ways to improve BV Commerce.

If you would like to participate in the preview please respond via email to [email protected] by Wednesday. You will receive an invitation via email.

The meeting will take place at 3pm eastern time and will demonstrate some of the upcoming changes in BV Commerce 6 including Themes, Choices & Options, and Admin Improvements.

BV Commerce Price Change - February 23rd, 2010

In anticipation of BV Commerce 6, the price of BV Commerce will be raised to $2499 on February 23rd, 2010.

Maintenance plan pricing will remain the same at $499/year after the first year.

Until February 23rd, the price will remain $1499 which includes a full year of maintenance and a free upgrade to BV Commerce 6.

BV Commerce 6 is currently scheduled for release this Spring. Existing BV Commerce customers who have not purchased a maintenance plan are urged to do so before February 23rd. This is the best opportunity to get a free upgrade to BV Commerce 6 at the lowest price possible. On the 23rd, the penalty for not purchasing maintenance will go up.

We'll be making an announcement about BV Commerce 6 release dates, 5.7 release dates and PCI compliance next week.

Thanks, gdelorey, for sharing the contents of the email you received. Looks like I missed out on the conference call but at least I heard from Marcus and am now on the distro list.

If anyone who attended the call would care to re-cap key elements, I would certainly appreciate it.

Thanks

Marcus, thanks for the great news about 5.7 and 6.0. Just to clarify your announcement. In the email you sent and the in posted announcement

"This means that anyone who has a maintenance plan today will receive a free upgrade to BV Commerce 6."

My maintenance plan expires in late April. Based on your post the fact that I have a current maintenance plan means that I am eligible for either upgrade. Is that correct?

Rick,

Your maintenance plan actually expires on May 12th, 2010. Anyone who has a plan expiring before that date will be extended to May 12, 2010 and will receive BV 6 under their plan for free.
