HI,
We have a client that offers both UPS and FedEx shipping methods, however both rates don't appear in the Estimate Shipping pop-up window. Usually only UPS shows up. However on the checkout page, all of the rates appear (UPS, FedEx and their different variations - ground, next day, etc)

I heard that UPS doesn't allow competitor rates to be shown next to theirs? Is that accurate? I would like to show all shipping options in the Estimate Shipping window.

Thanks

Yes -- UPS does not allow their rates to be displayed along side other shippers -- they are too afraid of competitive rates -- so if a software wants to use their tools, they have to agree not to do so, and so BV was set up not to allow you to display both.

I recently had a UPS sales rep show up at my door wanting our business and I told him that even if he gave us better rates than FedEx that we could not use UPS because of this reason because we must offer Postal Service as an option for some domestic and all international customers, and since UPS won't allow that, that precludes us from using them. The only way around it is to change the name of your shipping options by using a package like Andy Miller's ship rate software and not using the company names, -- you could use "Ground Shipping" for UPS, and Express 2-Day for Fedex, as an example -- but I'm still not sure how you would get the rates to display in real time.

Hi,
Joe

Thanks for the info. Yes, this is frustrating and my client is ready to just drop UPS for this issue also. I was just reading the features for BVC 5 on the marketing page and it says:

Mix and Match Providers and Rates
Display rates from multiple shipping providers at the same time to offer customers the best prices.

Also, I know using the google checkout API you can display multiple carriers, so not sure how they can do it and this software can't

Thanks

Good luck getting the Google Checkout to work with more than one carrier -- unless they have changed their 3-second rule, it will timeout every time getting rates for more than one method and goes to the backup. I had Google Checkout for one day and three transactions all at a loss on shipping before I dropped them.

BV does display multiple carriers, it's just UPS can't be one of them -- you can display FedEx and USPS alongside each other -- and FedEx is much more aggressive on rates than UPS is too.

I'm not sure either, but I suspect Google has more clout than BV Software. Perhaps they were able to negotiate a different agreement.
