All of a sudden I'm having trouble with some features of the admin backend on one PC -- I'm thinking it has to do with McAfee Security Center v10 which was just updated -- and it is the only PC on my network with this new version. But as an example, I can click on the "Sales by Date" report and it comes up fine for the current month, but if I try to load any other report -- Today, This Week, Last Month, etc. -- it never opens -- the browser eventually times out. The only clue I have is if I try in Google Chrome (the same thing happens in Chrome and Firefox on the same PC, which is running Vista), Chrome shows what is happening, and apparently there is some *upload* happening when you click on a different report, becuase Chrome indicates "Uploading .." and the percentage on teh status bar at the bottom -- but it always locks up at 24 percent and then eventually times out. Other PCs have no issue running the same reports, so it is something with that PC. I've tried turning off McAfee Firewall to no avail, and real-time scanning, no luck.

Just wondered if anyone had any thoughts.

I've discovered that this issue does not involve McAfee - so now I'm really stumped as to what is blocking data in BV backend -- this only recently started, so that's why I assumed it was the new McAfee download. One time I received an error message something about a WebResource timeout -- and in researching it had to do something with Ajax.

Joe you might just try another browser on this one computer and see if the issue persist.

Kim -- it's all browsers -- IE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari -- all get stuck running reports. The only clue I have is using Chrome -- on the status bar it gets stuck "Uploading -- 24%" when I try to change reports. It's only this PC running Vista -- and it's something new that has cropped up in the last couple of weeks. I just ran all Windows Updates and no change.

I'm wondering if this is a .NET compatibility issue -- I have .Net 3.0 installed on this PC -- if I install 4.0 will there be backward compability with BV5 (and them I'm ready for BV6)?

If you have BV 5.6 you need .NET 3.5 sp1. That could be causing part of the problem

.NET 4.0 installed won't matter because BV 5 won't use it at all. It can be installed side by side with .NET 2, 3 and 3.5 without issue though.

I do have 3.5sp1 installed -- so I'm not quite sure what the problem is -- a lot of functions in BV have really slowed down over the past couple of weeks on the one PC only, from Reports, adding items to an order on the backend, printing orders, and other functions.

I'm trying to figure out why, when switching from a Report on Sales This Month to the Report for Sales Last Month, that something is being uploaded, to the point where it stops at 24 percent (as shown in Google Chrome)

I found another clue to this issue -- I suspected it might be an AJAX issue -- so I tried testing another application using AJAX and attempted to load a sample page entitled "Using the XML HTTP Request object" and the page timed out! -- so the question then is what on my system woudl be blocking an XML HTTP request?

FYI, I've heard reports that the McAffee update has crashed a lot of people's computers and this issue is very likely not related to BV. I would do a search for McAffee issues and see if there are some fixes available.

Well, I had McAfee support in a support session and we disabled all of thier programs and it didn't correct the issue. I suppose I could try to uninstall it and see if that makes a difference.

I realize it's not a BV issue as I'm able to whiz through everything on other PCs
