Field Required Message not displaying when trying to add product to Wishlist

I have a product - vinyl wall expression - where the customer must choose the size (defaults to the smallest size) and two ink color choices. Both color choices are required. If a customer doesn't select a color choice and clicks "Add to wishlist", no error message is displayed. It stays on the page and does not add it to the wishlist, but the customer doesn't know anything is wrong because the error message ("Field Required") didn't display - all they know if that it seems the "add to wishlist" is not working. If however, they choose one of the color options (remember both are required) and then click "add to wishlist", they get an error message ("Field required") for the color choice that they haven't chosen yet. Does anyone have suggestions on how to get the error message to display when the customer has forgotten to choose both ink colors? I've been looking at the code, but can't figure out why the message is not displaying. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

I just discovered that even for items with one color choice, the "field required" message does not display when I click "Add to Wishlist". If I click the "Add to Wishlist" a second time, without changing any options, then I get the error message.
So I decided to try the same test on an item with 2 color choices and again - it doesn't matter which required color choice I don't choose - no error message will display the first time I click the "add to wishlist" button. If I click the button a second time, then the error messages display.
Anyone else have this problem? If so, what did you do to fix it?
Any suggestions from anyone on how to fix this?

switch to another product template real quick and test. could be part of the reason. |

I changed the theme to the Print Book Black theme which is came with BV Commerce and is completely unmodified. Same problem. First time I click "Add to wishlist", I see the message "Please wait..." and then nothing changes - no error message and product hasn't been added to the wishlist. If I click the button a second time (without selecting any choices), I see the "please wait..." message and the screen displays the two "Field Required" errors - one for each choice.
Any ideas why the first click of the button doesn't seem to validate the choices?

Sorry for the confusion, I should've been more specific. Switch the theme back to your original one. Edit the product you are working with and change it's "Display Template" to a different one and test. See attached for visual. Ok, I tried that - set the product template to the BVc5 template and it does the same thing. First time you click "Add to Wishlist" without selecting the required choices, it does NOT display any message. But if I simply click "Add to Wishlist" as second time, the "Field Required" message displays for both of the required choices.
