Hi, we've got a shared choice of around 300 dog breeds but when selecting a dog breed the Yellow Bar which says "Please Wait" appears but takes about 10 mins to go away, same if we try to add that dog breed then to the cart, another 10 mins wait.

In admin we now can't edit the dog breed shared choice anymore, anyone got any ideas why this is taking so long?

We're running 5.4 revision 4

Thanks

Rich,

I have had this issue for a very long time -- for any products with a number of choices -- shared or not -- when adding to cart it takes excrutiatingly long to bring up the choices (from the Admin backend) and/or get shipping rates on the front end. In our case I think it has to do with product dimensions and getting rates from FedEx since FE is looking at the total dimension, and BV adds up the length for all items into one long box -- we often get customers abandon very large carts because they can't check out -- but I've been told this is not a bug.

Thanks for getting back to me Joe, I'm unsure if it's to do with our new hosting as I don't recall having this problem before we swapped. Thing is we have a bigger clothing site with a lot of product variations which runs smoothly.

At a bit of a loss with this now!!

Anyone from BV able to give some advice?

There were some updates to SQL stored procedures and inventory checks in later service packs that may help performance. Our advice is alway to keep your store up to date with the latest service packs.

Unfortunately our client can't afford the upgrade path/maintenance.

But then again if Joe is also having the same problems with a newer version I'm a bit lost.

Getting the following errors in Event Logger, could these shed any light?
