Hi all, is there a way to assign a name to each tax rule in BV Commerce 5.74? I see fields for country, state/region, postal/zip, and tax rate, but I don't see a "name this tax" field. It would be great to be able to label the Ontario tax here as GST, or for other provinces & states being able to label them as Sales Tax, etc.
I'm not sure if there may be this feature already in the administration system, but I didn't see it.
Thanks Shan |

Guess it's not built in. I propose that it becomes built in! |

Tax Classes can have names. In BV6 Tax Zones can have names. I'm not sure how useful a name would be on a specific tax rate within a tax zone but I'll put it on the suggestion list.

Hi Marcus. I like the BV 6 enhancement to taxes but there are too many features in the 5.x version of BV Commerce that are critical to the success of this project, so I stuck to 5.74 for now.
In BV 5.74, there are two tax areas in the admin section, Tax Classes and Taxes. Tax Classes don't seem to be associated to states/provinces, whereas the Taxes module seems to be where one defines the different tax percentages per country and state/province.
What I was ultimately trying to do was show the shopper the type of tax within their province / state when checking out their purchase. In Ontario our sales and VAT tax is now called HST, whereas in other provinces such as Quebec it's referred to as QST. Some provinces have 2 taxes, a sales tax and a VAT type of tax.
I guess I could just show a generic "tax is x%" to the user but it would probably be a little more user friendly for them to see the names of those taxes as familiar to them in their day to day shopping.
Is that something that I can do by setting up tax classes? I wasn't able to make the association...
Thanks |
