Please take a look at this feature in Another shopping cart which allows dropship vendors:

- the ability to login and see orders

- to update shipping status

- to update inventory (and photos, hopefully)

- generate shipping labels using UPS Online Tools

this module also includes the ability to simultaneously notify multiple vendors of orders and allows buyers to make one payment for orders from multiple vendors.

would it be possible to have these features in any future versions of BVC? I don't know how well this actually works in that other cart, but it would open up a world of business opportunties to be able to have these.

B2B is a critical avenue of development for any serious cart(s). Eventually, (carefully) the sharing of data between different platforms will need to be as common as sharing of clip-boarded items between apps.

I drop ship for others and others drop ship for me. The rewards of this sort of management handling can be astounding. Automatic re-ordering, product cancelations, recalls, RMA's, .... IF everything can be made to work together.

ie: Sears allows stores to manage the main db - to a point. The challenge is going to be in making the management of this mess small enough in scale so a small business can cope with it and act as traffic cop. Disgruntled partners can do a lot of damage to a db.

Unfortunately, even in 2008, I'm still getting orders from some re-sellers in brick and morter stores that are hand written via fax. <sigh>

about a year ago I started a thread about the creation of a 'department-store' type admin. Manufacturers could sign in and update their part of my store. In return, I could cut my percentage. It'd be a first step, but a lot of work to set up.
I even gave up on Affiliates. Too hard to sell the concept, not worth the time.

ACL10,

I know that the guys from SSW (www.ssw.com.au) did such a plugin for BVC to allow vendors to see their own products/orders and all the other bits that you require. Get in contact with them if you want the plugin.

Corneliu.
