I have a unique product situation where the initial order has to be a minimum of X and then increments of Y after that.

The workaround for the time being has been volume pricing as there are price breaks as the number ordered goes up. But it still isn't 100% solid as a customer can order 50+1 to sneak into the price break level. Merchant can't sell 51 pieces, has to be 50+increments (can't break open the case kind of thing).

We tested a setup by pricing the original product at 50 pieces so the customer would enter 1 for the qty. That puts the product way out the "first glance affordable" zone and still messes with the volume discounts as the increments are usually at 25 pieces after the first 50.

I think this is very common for customized print products.

Yep, we made a modification for a printer client to do this. It's fairly extensive as it affects ordering, editing, discounts, shipping, etc.

Not really. It touches too many parts of the pricing infrastructure to bundle it up as an add-on.

Admitting noobie type question...LOL..

Do you think there is anyway to control the qyt input box value via anthem?

Customer enters 51 it bumps to 75. 113 bumps to 125, etc...

Matt, would this work for you? You'd need to build a list for each price group..... Done w/modifiers it takes about 3 minutes and you can bump the shipping cost as Q goes up...

That is exactly what is needed, but it's only solving 50% of the issue. There will be purchases of 100 and the champagne popping orders of 10,000.... that would be a real big option table, know what I mean...

Matt I guess you could do what you asked and use anthem to modify the quantity box with the quantity that your willing to sell at. I think the problem would be that the customer would need to be told that this change is by design so that they don't get confused as to why the quantity they are entering is not going in. =)

Hey jonathon, that's something that popped in my head when I was writing. could get frustrating pretty fast if there's no explanation given as to why the qty automatically changes to an increment.

All in all, it's a feature request though, business as usual right now for my client but one of those "it would be pretty sweet if it was ootb" things...LOL..
