Don't you think it's extremely better to have an option to choose "VB or C#" what languages for your ecommerce website during the installation? :-)

We have already announced that at least the core of BV Commerce 6 will be in c# only. Functionally, there isn't much that one language can do over another so the extra cost involved in providing the software in two languages would raise the price of the software a lot. We supported two languages in the past and found that it was very expensive to publish service packs, bug fixes and updates without that much benefit to users.
We selected vb.net when we started BV Commerce 1 because most users were classic ASP programmers used to the Visual Basic syntax. Since that time c# and vb.net have both become very popular but according to our research c# is slowly gaining ground as the number one .net language.

If the core will be in C# does that mean the code behind pages will be in C# as well? I really like my VB.net. =) |

The best choice is C#!
nowadays, if you're a programer or web designer your clients 99.99% request in C# period!

Undecided about MVC. I've tried out several versions and the rate of change is pretty fast right now. I'm working on the architecture to factor out logic to an "APP or UI" tier so that I can delay the decision until later.

Yep, I understand on the MVC. Another idea might be starting a build using MVC after it is released to test the waters. So far I have been liking it a lot. Great to have control. I do not like being an appliance operator :) .. Thanks for reply. |

Try the MVP (not MVC) Architecture for ASP.Net. It rocks and allows for some great flexiblity.

c# for me too....i used to be a VB programmer but once i switched to c# its painful editing VB code now :(

Should I hold off purchasing vers. 5 and wait for 6? When's 6 released? Will I have to re-purchase the product?

Actually, I should probably say that version 6 will be done when it's done. I know that sounds "snarky" but I don't want to set false expectations of a specific release date when I have not set one yet.
