New Orders - No Account Creation - Ability To Reorder via Admin

1. The lack of account creation on 1 page checkout is really becoming a pain. I'm attempting a work flow update suggested by Cliff but it really defeats the purpose of the 1 page checkout.
A. Please consider Auto-Account Creation where a customer checks out and BV sends 2 emails, 1 being the order receipt, the other being a welcome to our store email, an account has been created, here's your temporary password, please log in to update your account information. This will seriously help in customer management, specially for the situation below.
2. Ability to Reorder Via Admin
Been getting steady calls from a client on this. Many of their customers reorder the same products on a consistent basis. It's far too common that they'll call and ask the phone rep to reorder rather than go through the website and do it themselves. The customer is always right and they're not going to enforce any rules on their customers to do the orders themselves.
Without an account created on checkout, this is a major headache.... literally, there is no solution for this without an account created.
With an account created, can the People Section be improved in that when viewing a customer, the order history is an expanded view of previous orders (not in the right column, rather a full row too itself), as well as display a summary of what was in the order... doesn't have to be huge, a simple list of products would suffice. 2 buttons, view order details AND Reorder would be huge!
Doesn't necessarily have to carry over the credit card information, as it's customary for reps to ask for the card and/or use a card that's on file via their accounting system but carrying the card info over (if legally possible) would be great.
Doing a reorder via their accounting system is possible, but that's a whole new world of issues not easily solved as it's a 100% custom accounting package and backwards compatibility (i.e. pushing order into BV) would be a mindjob. Having this done through BV would be fantastic! |

Absolutely agree with both suggestions. BV, you could sell this as an addon or intermediate release and we'd pay for it as would many others. A version 5.5 that rolls everything together for an upgrade price of xx or even a few hundred would be great. PromoManagers Promotional Items

Agree!
We need this too - for several stores.

How are the customers getting to the 1-page checkout page without going through the login.aspx page? On my site, one must first create an account to get to checkout. |

Matt,
Yes, exactly -- and this site is going directly to the one-page checkout? Do you have "Require Login Before checkout" on the Checkout Started Workflow? |

No I do not. I will add this to the workflow on monday to test it out as we have to make a few changes to the checkout page based on some customer feedback.
This workflow update may solve the issue of customer not creating an account, however I feel that this negates the purpose of the anonymous/1 page checkout process. Many of the websites that I buy from automatically create an account upon checkout which does not interfere with the checkout process. I can manage my account after the sale.
I feel that this is the same direction that BV should head with the 1 Page Checkout Feature. |

One page checkout with automatic account creation is extremely important and a common feature in good carts.

I'm wondering if this can be accomplished via a workflow and a new email template. |

The problem is -- and it was this way in my previous cart -- is you have the same customer ignoring the account that was created for them and the password sent to them and they create a new account each time -- it fills the database up faster and it causes conflicts because of multiple accounts with the same email address.
I have always been against the "anonymous checkout" - like people really believe that their information is not being captured? And then they call or email for tracking information. Nope --I force an account. It's been much better this way. |
