This is not a wish list - at most stores the products in a wish list are removed when purchased:
I'd like to allow a frequent shopper to create a kind of 'mini catalog'. Some stores sell 1,000's of products and regular shoppers come back for the same dozen or so items over and over. Making it possible for a shopper to create a sub-set of the main catalog from which to fill a cart makes getting the correct items faster.
I shop for supplies at 2 sites that are set up this way. At each store I've got 20 or 30 items that pop up in the category when I sign in. I just check mark the item, fill in the quantity and check out. Simple and FAST!
Different 'sold to' and 'ship to' emails would be great for drop shippers also. Of course, we'd then need to be able to control our emails.....
BVC5 isn't as wholesale friendly as it could be. |

Mitch / Matt,
I have done somewhat similar on a BV store a couple of months back. Let me explain. This Store is used by regular web customers to place orders online. However, in addition to retail customers, the store also has regular customers (whole sale customers). It seems those customers order the same products (90% of the time) at regular intervals. So what we ended up creating was this:
1. We created a new page called Purchased History. Everytime a wholesale customer orders a product, we add it to his purchase history assuming that he might want to order it in the future again. if so, he can find it on this page instead of searching all over again. 2. When a whole sale customer logs in, he goes to his Purchased History page, where all his previously-ordered products are shown. He just enters the quantity on each and clicks the Add to Cart button. 3. That way all the products are added to cart at one go (single-click operation). Fast and easy enough.
In addition to what I wrote here, SP 5.4 makes it much more easier and faster because in SP 5.4, you can add multiple products with specific quantities to the cart with one operation. Before SP 5.4, it used to be a loop operation where you need to add products one by one. That does take some time. But with the latest Service Pack, it will become really fast.
The page I built was really easy and straight forward. You should be able to do something like this if you are dealing with repeat customers who order the same items most of the time.

Matt, great minds....
Satya, a project for another time. My catalog is really limited so my wholesale clients really have very little trouble getting around - most still fax me their PO so I can enter it for them!!!!!!
I think BVC is missing the boat as more and more ecommerce is BTB than just a few years ago. I used to buy from my top suppliers on the phone. Not so with the 2 that opened their wholesale-friendly sites. I think BTB is going to be a factor in the future. |
