In my opinion, this would probably be a valuable addition to BV6.
I thought that Google Sitemap can be either generated automatically every certain period of time or it can be generated at will. A file named "mysite.com/sitemap.xml" can be added to the file structure. So that file only is updated when the sitemap is created or new links are added. The webmaster just needs to add it to Google Sitemaps under Web Master Tools.

Agreed. The only problem I see with this is that the sitemap would only include BV pages. Since BV's content management functionality is mostly limited to the store catalog, all of our BV sites have static content pages outside the scope of BV so it would have no knowledge of those URL's. |

didn't even think of that.... in the same boat.
Quick thought would be a Site Map section in the dashboard. Option to activate/deactivate automatic sitemap feature.
1. Additional textarea to copy/paste urls (line by line) and BV adds those to the sitemap during the auto-build
2. Add Additional URL's one at a time. "Add New" "Edit" "Delete"
Could even store the additional urls outside of the sitemap file as urllist.txt or something of the like and add the call to it in the .xml file so the sitemap generator doesn't have to include them during the build, (might cut down on process time/resources).
Not sure about including timestamps of the file changes. I'm a conspiracy theorist...LOL... I don't want to give an engine the impression that a product I haven't touched in 1 year is old...standing the chance of being ignored. It hasn't changed because the product is simply that good, doesn't mean it isn't important just because it's timestamp is a year old. |

Google sitemaps allow multiple files for different sections of the site. Theoretically, you could have a /store file and a root file for your static pages.

We have a tool which generates and uploads Google sitemaps on a schedule.
We are beta testing user management interface, if you want to try it, let me know.
