[4]Introducing
King Of The List[/4]
King Of The List is a tumbling list of links, created by
PromotionSickness.com as the first phase in an effort to help simplify website promotion.
The
King is the first link at the top of the list at any given time. You can create a link and crown it to send it to the top, which pushes the other links down a notch. You can stay on the list as long as you like with just a single crown, and push it to the top whenever you like. You keep the list tumbling by adding your links.
The goal is to make it as easy as possible for people to find great sites, and even easier for anyone to promote their website at any time. Just crown your link again for instant exposure!
* Crown your link to push it to the top spot whenever you like!
* Your links remain on the list until you delete them, always promoting your sites.
* Links can be edited at any time to keep them fresh.
* Links are direct URLs to your sites; no forwarding or redirects.
* Your link can also be the king of it's category, even if it isn't king of the entire list.
* Every link has it's own permalink page, like this.
* Permalink pages sport contextual URLs, meta titles, meta keywords (coming soon), and meta descriptions.
* Your links are syndicated in RSS feeds for all links and by category, and soon in other places around the internet, including search.
[4]Some Tips For BV Stores[/4]
* Use an affiliate URL. In both BVC5 and BVC 2004, you have the ability to create an affiliate user with a special link. You can create your own user for King Of The List and use that affiliate URL in your link ad to track referrals and sales coming from kingofthelist.com to your home page.
* Create different link ads for different categories. Saturate the List by creating link ads for your own store's categories that may best fit the different categories on King Of The List. For example, if you have a category full of soap, create a link ad that points to your soap in the "Health & Personal Care" category in King Of The List. If another category in your store features coffee, add it to the "Food & Wine" category. Note: You don't want to add all of your categories to the List at once. Pace each one out over a couple days to best saturate the list, and keep your links from clumping together, which won't help you much.
* Regularly update your link ads with unique coupon codes whenever you crown them. This is another great way to attract traffic, as well as track where orders are coming from so you can figure out the best times to crown the List.
* Check out the ideas section regularly. http://www.kingofthelist.com/discover/ideas will be continually updated with tips and tricks for all types of sites.
[4]What's Coming Next?[/4]
Some of the biggest features of King Of The List are in the works right now, such as search, extended content (like a bio, press release, or whatever), keywords & tagging, the crowns payment system, helpful tips and videos, and a few goodies just for the link surfers.
And that's just phase two; we have a long list of ideas stacking up for the new year, including an API so that other websites and search engines can pull your links into their own services.
[4]Start Promoting Your Site[/4]
It's a good idea to start posting your links sooner than later. Even if you aren't too interested in promoting your site right now, or are concerned that kingofthelist.com doesn't sport enough traffic yet to bother with, go ahead and begin posting your link ads. The search engines are already crawling the List, so your permalinks will already be indexed when you need to Crown your links to the top of the list again to generate some traffic.
King Of The List is free for the next couple months, while the wrinkles are ironed out and new features are added (any feedback during this time is more than appreciated). If you create your account soon, you'll have 5 free crowns in your account to start off with. There will be ways to get more crowns for free, as well.
The only thing I ask is that you take care with the quality of content in your links. Try to keep the blatant sales pitches to a minimum; just be real and be relevant.
