The link you provided looks pretty nice, thanks. My idea is to make admin being able to control if he wants to display custom page and category results or no. And on the client side make the layout being like hairdirect one.
Also thanks for Microsoft Indexing Service note. I was thinking about how to improve searching accuracy but had no idea for a while. Will investigate the documentation about it. |

Oops, I gave you some bad information. Microsoft Indexing Service is for indexing static page content, not database content. For that you want to use full-text indexing in SQL Server. Sorry for the confusion. |

Aaron, Thanks but searching optimization is not big priority right now. Will work on adding search functionality for custom page and categories. |

Hallo, <SPAN lang=EN-US style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; COLOR: black; FONT-FAMILY: Verdana; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: RU; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA">Unfortunately I do not have much time to spend on this add-on now. But I have added category searching with advanced search support. Some features: 1. The keywords marked bold in category descript ion. 2. Only first 150 characters are <SPAN lang=EN-US style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; COLOR: black; FONT-FAMILY: Verdana; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: RU; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA">retrieved for category descript ion and it is truncated to the nearest word. 3. If no results for category or product are found then such section hides. For now only product search results link is working in the sections header. Try to search by 'test' keyword to see both the product and categories. Also I'm thinking about naming this add-on as Search Plus and making it separate from Advanced Search. By analogy to category <SPAN lang=EN-US style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; COLOR: black; FONT-FAMILY: Verdana; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: RU; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA">searching I have added support for custom page searching. Also: 1. Updated the product search result page so search criteria persists between main and product search pages. 2. Added HTML tags stripping for category and custom page search results. 3. Also now if no criteria is specified all the categories and pages are returned (previously result was empty). Please check out the update on http://bvc5.software-dev...ions.com/searchplus.aspx. |
