Hi there,
We have a client that experience an occasional issue with orders. They will have an order that has been paid, then they go in to add a shipping package. In the example I'm looking at right now there is 1 item in the order and there is 1 package for UPS with a tracking number, yet at the top of the order the status shows as "Complete / Paid / Unshipped". It also shows as unshipped on the list of orders.
I have looked in the database at the order I I know that status is complete. There is a package for the order and the "Shipped" field values is1. The XML from the "Items" field has the 1 product in it with the correct LineItemID and as far as I can tell it looks identical to another order that has the proper display of "Complete / Paid / Shipped" with the exception, the "ShippingStatus" field is 1 instead of 3.
I have manually changed the "ShippingStatus" field to 3 which does change the icon on the list to green; however, when the order is edited (even if no changes are made) it still reads Unshipped and it changes the value in the database back to 1.
Is there a different way through the WUI to change the status, or is there some other piece of data somewhere that's holding me up?
Thanks in advance!

What version are they running? Are they using the admin to ship orders or a third-party application?
I can't say that I've ever seen this problem. It is possible to mark an order 'complete' even if it has not been shipped. It's also possible to create a shipping package but not ship it (i.e. click the "Create Package" button instead of the "Ship Items" button). In this case the package is created but its HasShipped value is set to 0 (and the order is not marked as shipped). |

Hi Aaron, They use admin to do the shipping and they are using 5.7.3, but I believe I've heard of this in other versions as well.
I think I may have a clue although I haven't confirmed this yet. The one thing that I was able to determine each of the "unshipped" orders had in common is that for some reason one or more of the products was deleted from the catalog rather than just marking it as inactive. I have a suspicion that the code that determines the shipping status cannot find the product that is listed in the "items" XML and is returning unshipped because it does not know how to handle that situation.

I have also see this happen when UPS aborts the connection/times out. However that tends to happen when a large amount of orders are shipped at once, as opposed to the single package in this case.
