Nicely done, Steve! Out of curiosity, how much did you need to alter the markup of the pages and controls outside of your theme folder to achieve the responsive design?

vividinkproducts has been extensively modified outside of the theme folder however to be truthful it all depends on how many of the current control set/content blocks you are planning on using across the whole of the website.

Each control needs some modification from simply wrapping a div which you can the manipulate via a media query to a full re-write.

Yeah, that's what I figured. I came to the same conclusion after discussing it with one of our designers. A year ago we were considering the development of a mobile commerce plugin because that could be dropped into an existing merchant site without significant modification. Today, I'm leaning more towards a responsive solution than a mobile-specific site, but that significantly complicates the implementation for merchants.

I think could be done, but you are probably looking at version 6.0 as opposed to 5.8.x/5.9

Responsive design is definitely the way forward, I am not sure how it would be significantly more complex for merchants beyond the standard upgrade path, as traditionally these have required some aftermath tweaks if any content blocks/controls have been updated.

The addition of a new theme could be a prerequisite for the new version due to the fact you are adding a great deal of value. This is of course assumes none of the standard themes meet the customers/consumers requirements.

I look forward to seeing the Q1 road map on where bv commerce is heading

Great RWD site reference Steve95 on Vivid Ink Products! It's actually the only one listed in thread. We are currently in design phase for a BV RWD site and I've been looking around for additional information and even if there's a responsive framework available.

We haven't released the beta to our partners yet. As information about the new release becomes available we will release it via Facebook, Twitter, and our mailing list.

I was referencing this site Vivid Ink Products and it looks like it's not an active site anymore... who worked on the responsive build for it?
