Hello,

Currently I have been adding products to a SALE category and then placing that category on sale. Then there is a link that customers can click to see what is on sale.

That has always been a bit cumbersome, adding and removing products one by one.

I am hoping that I am missing something and that there is a simple way of creating a link that will take our customers to a page showing the discounted products.

Thanks,

Paul

Paul,

If I'm understanding you correctly you are creating a single Sale (not Offer) that applies to a specific category. You are then assigning products to this category which effectively puts them on sale. Is that correct?

Aaron,

Yes, that is what I have been doing.

Currently I would like to have several (but not all) categories on sale without having to add each product to the sale category and still have a page that shows those sale items.

I am not married to the SALE, OFFERS are fine so long as I can construct a link to a page showing the discounted products.

I'm not quite clear on the difference between Sale by category or an Offer that is based on a category.

Thanks,
Paul

I'm not sure that there's an easier way to do this. With your current setup all you need to do is assign a product to the sale category for it to be both on sale and to appear in the sale category with the other on-sale products. If, for example, there was a way to automatically display on-sale products in a category you would still need to go into the sale and then add the product to the sale. It seems like six of one, half a dozen of another. Either way you need to assign something.

Sales and offers are different. Sales only apply to products and affect the price that you see on category and product pages. Offers are generally more flexible and can apply to products, order total, and shipping. However, offers only apply in the cart so you will not see the savings until then.

Can you give me a little detail about why you feel this process is cumbersome?

Are you adding the products to the sale category from the product edit page or the category edit page? If you're trying to add multiple products to the sale category it would probably be faster to do this through the category edit page.

We had a customization made for something like this. We have one "On Sale" category. It is a dynamic category. We added a check box to the criteria of the dynamic category to show all products that are part of any sale that is currently scheduled. As long as there is a sale scheduled, this one category will always show sale products.
