Hi Guys,

It has been about a year and a half now and we are always working and tweaking things with our new site. We are a power equipment parts e-commerce website. I would like to thank Aram from Avecom and Noah from Resposio and The Scribbit in getting us this far.

As far as the site is concerned. We use a third party streaming parts diagraming that is industry specific but everything else was built around it. I am looking for any feedback good or bad so I can continue to make this site better.

Thanks for sharing, Ed! This is a pretty unique BV Commerce site with your integration with PartsStream. Out of curiosity, why did you decide to develop a new responsive theme rather than starting with the included Foundation4 theme? I'm guessing that 2015 wasn't released when you started development.

Here are a random list of thoughts that I put together while looking at your site:

  • It seems like the Achilles heel of the site is PartsStream--it is less user-friendly than the rest of the site and doesn't work as well on mobile, either. I'm guessing that there isn't much that you can do about that since it's their product.
  • Mobile UI (the gray bars at the top and bottom of the page) does not seem very intuitive. Specifically the "Shop" fly-out menu is complex and has a bit of a learning curve. Also, the search dropdown/box/button wrap which makes it hard to tell that this is one piece of UI functionality.
  • Why does the site logo disappear once you leave the homepage (on mobile)?
  • Live Chat overlaps too much of the page on mobile
  • Category pages like this use a horizontal scroller for the sub-categories which doesn't make it obvious that there are more than 3 sub-categories. Also, scrolling one category at a time makes its use even slower.

One other thing...I'd consider swapping the positions of the Google Trusted Stores badge and the 'back to top' link.

Hi Aaron,

Thank you for your input. Yeah, at the time 2015 wasn't released. Aram from Avecom is solely responsible for helping us out with that and did an amazing job. Partstream we have very little control of. Unfortunately, they are the only people make that type of program in our industry so I have no other choice to use it or build our own.

Thank you for your other input and we will make the corrections we can!
