What is the purpose of the Dimension fields in the Shipping section of Product setup? When I process an order using the Ship by UPS button in the Orders module, the weight of my product comes over, but the dimensions (which I know are supposed to be product, not box dimensions) do not. So what is the purpose of this field? Thanks in advance.

Are you asking about BVC5? The UPS rate provider code in BVC5 will ignore the product dimensions if ShippingUpsSkipDimensions in the WebAppSettings table is 1.

Andy - I am not the developer but I assume the field you referenced (ShippingUpsSkipDimensions) is the same as "Don't use package dimensions, only weight", under Options>Shipping>Available Methods>UPS (Edit)>Global Provider Settings. The box is unchecked.

I have added weight and dimensions to the product I am shipping. I placed a test order then went to the Ship By UPS section of my Order within Order Manager. The Weight is carried over, but the package size is not. I've attached a screen print of what I'm looking at. Shouldn't the package size that I entered at the product level have come over along with the weight?

Thanks for your help.

The UPS label generation code, "Ship By UPS", is completely separate from the UPS rate retrieval code in BVC5. They do not share any common code. I agree that the dimensions should be pulled into the Ship By UPS page. I'm not too surprised that they are not. You should submit that as a bug.

Thanks for the response, Andy. I will do as you suggest, and now that I know it is a bug, post the issue to the bug forum.
