I read the previous posts and didn't see this exact issue addressed though I found one similar. My issue is this:
I use options becuase all products choices, even different sizes, colors, etc. are tied to unique SKUs. I have two or more sets of options set for some products and customers have to figure out which option combo is valid before it will allow it to be entered into a shopping cart. For example, I have products that may come in SIZE 8 oz, 16 oz, 32 oz, and 5 lb. Each product has a second STRENGTH option of "mild" and "regular". However, the drop down boxes for each option automatically multiply (okay) but it does not give the user an idea of which options are truly valid. Fro instance, for SIZE option box, each size twice (e.g. 8 oz, 8 oz, 16 oz, 16 oz, 32 oz, 32 oz, 5 lb, 5lb) since it invisibly relates each size to a specific STRENGTH (second choice). Then, the STRENGTH option lists the multiples of strength (e.g. mild, regular, mild, regular, mild, regular, mild, regular) without giving the customer and idea of why they are duplicated or which pair they have to select to be valid.
For a specific example, go to:
http://www.verlenes.com/Products/Lady-Velvet-No-Base-Relaxer__0-LVL53900.aspx It knows that only cetain combos are valid but it doesn't reflect that in the drop down options and will allow it to be carted when the user has magically chosen the proper set of SIZE and STRENGTH entries.
Is there a way to update the remaining VALID choices once any other choice is selected?
Is there any other way to correct this problem while maintaining the SKU association?
