I have a client using one authorize.net account for two stores. Is it possible to append a prefix to the order number without creating a custom workflow item?

Can you not have two different sequence of order numbers for the stores? Ofcourse depends on the number of orders the store gets. |

I was thinking the different sequence might work but I think a better option is for me to program a workflow item that will append the prefix to the order number. I'm sure they will go for it as it's cheaper than another authorize.net account.

I suggest appending the prefix if possible. We ran into a situation not too long ago. One store caught up to the other one, caused a few days of mayhem. We ended up changing the order numbers (like satya mentioned) and it's working for now (probably will for another year) but we're introducing two more stores and it's inevitably going to happen again at some point.
I advise checking to see if your accounting system accepts alpha characters in the order number. Haven't confirmed if alpha characters work in QB POS. |
