I am new to the BVC system and i am trying to get the manual processing to work correctly. For some reason the Security codes are not appearing on the payment section of the order form(even though there is a section for it). I need this in order to authorize and finish processing the orders. Is there a reason why it would be disappearing from that page?
If it is manual, does it still end up authorizing the card so that i don't need the code?

The BV Manual Gateway is for capturing credit card information and processing it via another system. The only thing that it does is store the credit card information. It does not authorize or capture funds. The reason you are not seeing the CVV code is because the credit card companies do not permit you to store this number. When you're using real-time processing this number is used in the authorization of the card and then discarded. |

Thank you for your reply.
In BVC 2004 we were able to see these codes. So is it a new policy of the credit card companies that prevents us from storing the code?
This store is using completely manual credit card processing (not using real-time processing), So we need these codes to correctly authorize the credit cards. Is there absolutely no way to do this?

The policy of not storing CVV codes has been around for quite so time (perhaps since their inception). I don't believe that BVC 2004 stored this information so perhaps your store was customized, though it would be in violation of the policy. You could customize the BVC 5 to do this as well, but again, you would not be in compliance.
What's the aversion to a real payment gateway? |

CVV Code implies that the card is in hand. You're processing offline, therefore, card is not in hand. As a result, you may notice that transaction fees are slightly higher for offline processing due to fraud liability 'insurance'.
Having the CVV code from an online order while processing offline negates the purpose of the security practice. If the customer is in your physical brick & mortar store and you swipe the card there, there is no need for the CVV code as the card is literally in your hand. |

CVV codes and magnetic stripe information are never supposed to be stored in a persistent way according to the latest credit card policies and PCI requirements. This is a safety mechanism to help prevent those numbers from being stolen in the event of a security breach. If you don't store them they can't be stolen.
If you are processing cards off line you can display the full primary account number and expiration date in BV Commerce 5 which will allow you to run the cards using your terminal. You may be charged higher rates.
I highly recommend choosing a credit card gateway to process cards online for a couple of reasons:
1) You'll get instant feedback on failed cards helping you to resolve the issue quickly with the customer
2) You'll have lower transactions rates since the CVV data and address verification are used.
3) It will save you time. Add up how long it takes you to punch in those numbers manually and then figure out if $25/month for an online gateway will cost you more or less. Unless your time is worth nothing I think the $25/month will end up a much better deal.

Ok, Thank you again for the replies.
I was just working on what i was told byt the person who managed the former site.
If we decided to start using a The BankofAmerica processor, how would i go about setting that up?
