Well, we are going nowhere here (actually, we are going backwards). Does anyone know of a third party product that can be used to import orders? Seems like I can remember a product (from my SF days) that could be setup to import into QB from a SQL database, but it took a lot of setup... anyone remember what product I am thinking about? Don't really want to approach it this way, but I need to at least consider it.

My back is against the wall.... its costing a lot of time(and money) to manually move the orders into QB Enterprise 2008.

Looking for suggestions/solutions?????

QB Enterprise has a built-in SDK now that you can use to read/write information into QB. If your looking for a hands-on approach to this I would recommend going that route. You can get all the order information from the BV Webservice.

The key is having enough knowledge to take the data from the Webservice and message it into QB using their SDK.

Or you can probably ask for a bounty in the forums and see if any of the developers here will bite.

Good luck.

Actually, I am pretty frustrated. I get my ass chewed out almost everyday from the bookkeeping staff over this, and I won't dare tell 'ya what the staff wants me to do with the Quickbooks connector. While I realize the accounting people should have touched base with me before they upgraded to 2008, its done now, and there is nothing I can do. We have had trouble for months with the QB connector downloading duplicates, skipping orders, and a host of other issues that they have been working around, so I can understand their frustration as well.

I have not been able to get an answer from BV on any kind of time frame, so its hard to know what to do. Marcus tells me that they will have to get a new SDK from Intuit, and re-compile the app, and I have no idea how long that is going to take. I switched to BV because the former app I was using was eating up server resources like a hog, but they bookkeeping staff never saw that. All they know is that they didn't have any issues downloading orders in those days, so they love to let me know about it.

If I knew that it was going to be a significant time before a new version of the connector was available, I would definitely pay for someone to build us a custom solution. We have paid over time for someone to type the orders in, so we are spending the money anyway. To make matters worse, bookkeeping upgrades to the latest version of QB enterprise almost every year.

One good thing about the connector as it is working now is that it does download the customer info, so we only have to pay for someone to type in the actual items ordered, amounts, and taxes... so that helps a little.

Dean -- are you thinking of the Stone Edge order manager? It never worked with SF and not sure about BV.

I don't remember the name. I just remembered that there was something third party.

Dean,

I feel your pain man. We have always had problems with the QB Connector ourselves. I get the feeling they really don't care about this particular product much and have given us little support in helping us resolve our issues. We are able to import the orders over now but, it took us a while to get to that point and there is still information that is not passed over correctly.

I really wish they would release the source code to let us more tech savvy guys have a go to fixing the bugs that crop up in their product. It seems every answer we have gotten from them in regards to the BV Connector is wait until the next release (wich btw they never give a solid idea when it will be released) and see if that fixes your problem.

Very frustrating indeed.

I would honestly consider you look into getting some 3rd party developer to do this for you.

Looks like there is a big hole here for a developer. Quickbooks and Quickbooks Enterprise are very popular among small businesses and the BV web site says there is 30,000 people using BV to run their store.

At one time, QB has 80% of the small business market and they still hold the vast majority of the business... so with 30,000 sites using BV, it seems that only a few of us are having issues... because the other 25,000 BV Quickbooks users aren't saying much. Wonder how they are getting their orders downloaded?

I notice that Atandra is in bed with another popular asp.net ecommerce application, and when you look at their site, I would say that their product could possibly be married up with BV. I would prefer to support the BV product, but at this point, I am getting so uncomfortable in my skin, I may give them a call and see what they say.

Hello,

I have a different cart than BVCommerce and use a product from writeitonce. Very inexpensive and they can configure for any shopping cart. They can configure for Quickbooks and other Accounting Software. The script they wrote for me also includes simultaneous export to Dazzle (Endecia).

http://www.writeitonce.com/shoppingcarts/sca2002.htm

You could try them.

The problem I have with BVCommerce is that I would need an export or screen capture of the CC info, which I can't get. Not sure if you have real time CC processing. I do mine through Quickbooks and have to download the information.
