Attached is an updated version of the Flat File Import Tool for BV Commerce 5.5

The BV Commerce 5 Flat File Import/Export tool is designed to let store owners easily import new item, update existing items and export current items. The tool currently supports working with Categories, Products and Users. The program will ready tab delimited text files for imports and updates and will generate tab delimited text files for export.

Requirements
• Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 or later must be installed on your computer
• Windows Operating System (XP, 2003 Server, Vista, etc.)
• Internet Access to your store’s web site

Installation
1) Download the BVC5-ImportTool-5.5.zip file from the user forums at http://www.bvsoftware.com/forums/
2) Unzip the downloaded file into any folder on your computer. If you need an unzip program you can try www.winzip.com or www.7-zip.com
3) That’s it!
*** IMPORTANT ***
You should always make a full and complete backup of your database before running any import/update operations. There is no "undo" feature for an import or update.

I have tried running this for one of our clients on their SP 5.5 store to export their products and I get the following error.

No stock store, upgraded to SP 5.5.

BUG - when importing the meta keywords and meta description fields, there are quotes put around the values if there are spaces in them.

Any chance that you could post the source code so I can fix the bugs and potentially add additional features (such as the ability to add product type values)?

More Bugs:


1. Gift wrap option is set to "true" when importing a product without this field included (which is how they are exported).
2. Text fields that contain a double quote are both wrapped in quotes and the double quote is duplicated.

I'm in on the request for the source code on this. We've done a ton of customizations to the base product and it would be a great start at our own import.

I'm also getting the double quote bug that dotNet guy mentioned in #2. It seems to render this tool unusable. Any fixes for this or source code available?

I was using the version that I downloaded from my BV account area. If the version on CodePlex is newer, then the import tool in the account area should either be updated or removed. I'll give the tool another go at some point. Thanks.

I just got a new store set up and I have hundreds of product to import. I just DL'd the import tool from BV Software web site yesterday. 7/27/2010.

it seems to import only CSV files now, is this by design or is it a bug?

I am also getting this XML error when I run the export tool. Did anyone ever solve it?

I need to use it on a 5.4 store. I have downloaded (from here and codeplex) and tried 3 different versions of the tool but none of them work.

It works fine on a 5.7 store but I cannot upgrade the 5.4 store.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
