Cross sells can be displayed two ways. One is if you have the "Redirect To Shopping Cart After Item Is Added" and "Display Cross Sells When Adding Item To Cart" both selected, which shows a page between the product page and the shopping cart. The other is if you have "Display Cross Sells In Shopping Cart" selected, which displays cross sells on the actual shopping cart page itself. The problem with shopping cart page is that it only shows cross sells for one product. If i have 5 products that have cross sells, it only shows it for one of them.

I like the idea of showing ALL the cross sells for ALL my products that have been added to cart on one page. It's the same principal as walking through the maze of candy, gum, magazines, accessories, headphones etc at best buy when you check out. I dont know where would the best placement for this page though. Should it be when you finally hit the "view cart and checkout" button which would take you to this "hey dont forget about these products?" page. Should it be after the cart page with the "hey dont forget" page?

What do you think? Im not satisifed with how accessories are displayed when you don't have the re-direct to cart button active.

Bryan,

I think it's a very good idea. It would make sense to do something like Amazon does where no matter what you just added to your cart they always show some related products. You never get a blank list of suggested items.

If no items are assigned as upsell/cross sell, how about an autopopulated defined (rows & columns) grid of the store's top X products on the cart page?

If one of the items is already in the cart, it's bumped out the grid and auto-filled with the next one on the list.

Right now I have a products related items displayed on the cart page and directly underneath is a custom content column with a product grid that we change up every so often with fresh "last minute" items.

Works fantastic when there's Free Shipping on orders over X. Add some 10 dollar items and you just sold a few more things to hit the free shipping trigger.
