I'm looking for a developer who's current, good, responsive, and one who can quote and complete the work in a timely manner.

I have a list of customizations that I need.

For starters, I need something like this -

http://www.dezignwithaz.com/wall-decals-floral/bicolor-poppies-decorative-wall-decals-p-1360.html (wall color selection and two color selectors for the product graphic with instantaneous refresh without blinks).

and similarly ...

http://www.dezignwithaz.com/removable-wall-decals-animals/zebra-wall-decals-p-635.html

(wall color selection and 1 color selector for the product).

Anyone interested?

Thanks

I'm also interested in having someone look at the problem of a shopping cart with a large number of items, especially items with product modifiers -- after you get about 40-50 items, the cart slows down to a crawl, sometimes times out, and you can't get a FedEx shipping estimate because of the way BV strings all item lengths together. I'm losing sales because when a person buys 100 1-inch beads, BV creates a package that is 100 inches long and FedEx can't give a rate for it, the cart throws an error and customer leaves. I'm at least looking for a way that if a package exceeds "X" length, then it defaults to a certain length that at least will give a rate and not time out!

This is a serious bug!

Joe,

If you're not happy with the way calculations are made you can replace the dimensions calculator with a different one.

The default system takes the longest possible dimension for an item and uses that as the max dimension, then it calculates an estimated volume based on the other dimensions. We use a square root of the remaining volume to estimate other dimensions. This gets us to a reasonable approximation of items in a box.

Marcus -- how do I change it? As it is right now -- if someone orders 300 1-inch beads, it creates a package that is 300 inches long -- FedEx throws an error on that. I also notice that if a customer uses Priority Mail on a package like that, when I pull it into ShipRush -- the package dimension is listed as 300x1x1 and I have to change that in order to print a shipping label.

Thanks

Does anyone know how to make the change that Marcus is referring to? This is a serious problem!

Joe,

The change I'm referring to is to replace the standard shipping calculator with a custom programmed one.

Figure out how much you think you are losing in orders or shipping charges and then get quotes from us or other programmers to make the changes so that your products are priced exactly the way you want. If the cost to custom program the change is more than what you think you're losing in sales or shipping fees you're better of staying with the standard platform.

If the cost to make the change is less than what you think you're losing to the issue then it is a wise investment to hire a programmer to correct the problem.

Well -- can I ask this? Is this way of calculating going to remain the same in BV6? It's hard to tell how many sales I'm losing -- I simply see large carts trying to check out from time to time and they don't finish, and I see the timeout error in the event log at the same time.

By their very nature, real time rates could be problematic for large orders. If you have lots of bulk orders you might consider setting up a separate wholesale site where you charge differently for shipping.

BV 6 will have same changes to the packaging algorithms. I don't know for sure if that will address your specific shipping issue but we're always trying to get more accurate rates.

If we have to send a couple of dozen "boxes" to UPS for a rate quote it may be too slow for a regular checkout process though.

Thanks Marcus -- the only thing I would like to see is if the length is greater than "X" then start doubling up on the width unit -- i.e., if you are adding 1"x1"x1" items to the cart, when you hit the max length for a standard Fedex package, say 70", instead of the package going to 70x1x1, it should go to 70x2x1, then 70x3x1 (or 70x2x2), which doesn't throw Fedex into a tizzy.

From what I understand it's unique to FedEx because UPS goes on the weight alone -- or more accurately doesn't care if you don't have LxWxH figures, where FedEx does.
